This is a typical error in a Citrix XenApp (5, 6 or Presentation Server 4.x) environment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Desktop-XenApp-5-Citrix-Receiver_2012-01-09_14-37-09.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Desktop-XenApp-5-Citrix-Receiver_2012-01-09_14-37-09_thumb.png\" width=\"254\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are multiple causes of this problem, some are more obvious then others.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Captain obvious<\/h2>\n<p><strong>First<\/strong> step in troubleshooting the cause of the issue is to <strong>double-click<\/strong> on the error message that is displayed, it will give you the details of the error. (I\u2019ve lookup over this feature <strong>numerous <\/strong>of times, so it was quite a <strong>revelation<\/strong> when I found out you can double-click on the error message\u2026)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Desktop-XenApp-5-Citrix-Receiver_2012-01-09_14-37-20.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Desktop-XenApp-5-Citrix-Receiver_2012-01-09_14-37-20_thumb.png\" width=\"254\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The most simple cause of this problem is : access denied. The user connecting to the Citrix server simply hasn\u2019t got the permission to connect and therefore the connection is refused. By adding the user as an Citrix administrator (or better, an AD group) the error is solved.<\/p>\n<p>In case you want to know how to add a Citrix administrator, I\u2019ve added some screenshots below. Since the Citrix Access Management Suite (AMC) uses MFCOM and CPSCOM interfaces, it requires network COM+ access.<\/p>\n<p>In the event log you\u2019&#8217;ll probably will find an event with ID <strong>10006 <\/strong>from source <strong>DCOM <\/strong>with the description :<\/p>\n<p>DCOM got error \u201cThe component or application containing the component has been disabled\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t installed IIS (which I don\u2019t recommend BTW) on your server you\u2019ll have to install the \u2018Enable network COM+ access\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about this issue on Citrix knowledge base article <a href=\"https:\/\/support.citrix.com\/article\/CTX112853\" target=\"_blank\">CTX112853<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<h2>Connecting from a remote machine \u2013 XenApp 6.x<\/h2>\n<p>The same thing applies when you\u2019re using the Delivery Services Console (DSC) from a remote workstation. In the event log you\u2019&#8217;ll probably will find an event with ID <strong>10006 <\/strong>from source <strong>DCOM <\/strong>with the description :<\/p>\n<p>The machine-default-permission settings do not grant Remote Activation permissions for the COM Server application with CLSID<\/p>\n<p>You need to enable remote access for the user\/group using the DSC. You can read more about this issue on Citrix knowledge base article <a href=\"https:\/\/support.citrix.com\/article\/CTX131829\" target=\"_blank\">CTX131829<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to enable remote access to DCOM from a PowerShell script you can find one <a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/en\/2012\/03\/set-dcom-remote-access-via-powershell\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<h2>Window Server 2003 Service Pack 1<\/h2>\n<p>The discovery from the Citrix Access Management Suite (AMC) might fail to connect on machines running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1, while servers with SP2 connect fine.<\/p>\n<p>In the event log you\u2019ll probably find two error messages from the source <strong>Service Control Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Event ID 7009 : Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the COM+ System Application service to connect).<\/p>\n<p>Event ID 7000 : The COM+ System Appliance service failed due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the problem is a corrupted COM+ database during the installation of Citrix XenApp 5 \/ Presentation Server 4.5, preventing the Citrix IMA COM Interop application from being installed successfully.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about this issue on Citrix knowledge base article <a href=\"https:\/\/support.citrix.com\/article\/CTX113117\" target=\"_blank\">CTX113117<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Author : Ingmar Verheij When opening the Citrix Access Management Console (AMC) you might get the error \u201cErrors occurred when using &lt;servername&gt; in the discovery process\u201d.
