This is especially true after a certain period of using the system. The fans suck in fresh air&#160; and (after cooling the processor, gpu and chipset) blows it again. In the meantime it collects <strong>dust<\/strong> on the fan and the vent.<\/p>\n<p>After removing the dust my CPU temperature decreased from <strong>83C\/181F<\/strong> to <strong>51C\/124F<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4>High CPU temperature<\/h4>\n<p>I\u2019ve been using the laptop since February <strong>2011<\/strong> and I noticed the <strong>CPU<\/strong> <strong>temperature<\/strong> was getting pretty <strong>high<\/strong> (and the system was slowing <strong>down<\/strong>). Yesterday I worked the whole day with the Remote Desktop Client (a low impact process) and recorded a <strong>peak<\/strong> temperature of <strong>83C\/181F<\/strong>. My collegaue Remko Weijnen even measured a whoppin\u2019 <strong>96C\/205F!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/RealTemp-3-Before.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/RealTemp-3-Before_thumb.png\" width=\"189\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Core-Temp-1.0-RC3-Remko-Weijnen.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Core-Temp-1.0-RC3-Remko-Weijnen_thumb.png\" width=\"240\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<h4>The dust collector<\/h4>\n<p>Because <strong>dust<\/strong> is collected in the <strong>fan<\/strong> and the <strong>vent<\/strong>, the <strong>cooling<\/strong> capabilities <strong>decreases<\/strong> resulting in a higher temperature. So the most <strong>logical<\/strong> thing to do is to <strong>clean<\/strong> the dust. I\u2019ve opened the laptop, removed the fan and blew the <strong>dust<\/strong> <strong>out<\/strong>. Today I\u2019ve worked with the Remote Desktop Client again and recorded a more <strong>acceptable<\/strong> peak temperature of&#160; <strong>58C\/136F<\/strong> and a nominal temperature of 51C\/124F.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/RealTemp-3-After.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 5px 0px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/RealTemp-3-After_thumb.png\" width=\"189\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<h4>Cleaning the dust<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Step 1 <\/strong>: Remove the central screw (1), screws that hold the HDD (4) and slide the back to the front.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ingmarverheij.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/P1020035.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none;
